Tips on How to Securely Pack Your Items for Storage

Tips on How to Securely Pack Your Items for Storage

Hello to all of our friends looking for professional movers! We’re not just the best moving company Bucks County has to offer. We’re your friends and neighbors eager to help you prepare for moving time.

Banged up items have got to be one of the worst things that can happen to independent movers. That’s why we’ve gone ahead and picked professional packing tips that’ll help you avoid any nasty surprises come unpacking time.

1. Gently Used Boxes

Do yourself a favor: Reuse any boxes that are in good condition. It’ll save you a lot of hassle in the long run from trying to find new boxes or having to buy them. Make sure that they are sturdy and can handle the weight of your items.

2. Avoid Bubble Wrap

Bubble Wrap is an outdated method of moving. After you move you are left with excessive plastic. It’s best to find an alternative environmentally friendly resource for packing. Think of alternatives such as used paper or dish towels to cushion your delicate belongings. Cover every item you want to pack with old paper or fill in the spaces between items. You will reduce your post-move waste, and save money too!

3. Fill Any Box Space With Cushioning

You’ll want to make sure that there’s no space inside your box. The more space you leave, the more likely it is your items will bang around and cause you problems later.

4. Leave A Name and Address Inside The Box

Don’t trust that the outside of your box will be fine. Always be prepared. Maybe the name will peel off somehow. Have a backup with your name and your address inside the box.

5. Don’t Try To Shove Everything Into One Box

We see this all the time. It’s not a good idea to get overzealous with your packing. A few extra boxes won’t kill you!

6. Make Sure All Containers Are Securely Fastened

When we say this, we mean smaller containers you’re putting inside boxes, like bottles or small crates. Ensure that they’re snug and secure. Use tape if you need it!

7. Keep Things Organized

Pack like with like. Don’t spread things out too much.

8. Use Cardboard To Divide Glassware

Glassware is one of the single biggest causes of accidents while moving. Glass is fragile, so space it out with used papers or cardboard. (This is where old worn boxes can be put to use)

9. Ask Before You Buy

When you know you are planning a move, start saving the packaging from your online purchases and ask your friends to help. You can save on money and excess waste if you reuse existing packing or find other times to use as an alternative.
